| Satnav/GPS Tales wanted! | | Do you have a GPS/Satnav Unit in your car? Has it ever taken you off into the wild when you've asked it to take a Shortcut? I'd accidentally set mine on the "Shortest route" setting this evening on the way home,and a more rutted or potholed excuse for a goat track it was never my misfortune to follow...Once I realised how bad it was getting (Grass betwen the ruts!) there was nowhere to turn around or go back-one time it told me to take the next left,and I found myself looking at a farm gate! I wouldn't have considered that road on my own if I'd been out hiking-even a mountain bike would have been chancy! I'd heard horror stories of truck drivers using these things and getting trapped in rural lanes by tunnels formed by overhanging tree branches..so..be honest..has it happened to You,and tell all![em]w00t[/em] | |

I often find myself lost EVEN if its only Singapore! Which is just a small dot in the globe! Getting lost, and trying to find my way back to my destination often means additional petrol required and additional $ is spent..
I was wondering whether if it would be worthwhile to get a GPS system and to save $ in the long run...

| My GPS Steered Me Wrong | | I had to go out last night to unfamiliar territory. I used my GPS to get me there. No problem except for all of the traffic I was stuck in. On the way home I missed one of the exits and the GPS took me all over the place. Two times it told me "recalculating" right in the middle of the directions. It took me forever to get home and I had a blazing headache by the time I got home. Has your GPS ever ever done this to you or took you somewhere totally out of the blue? | |

| My latest toy - Sanyo's newest portable GPS system | | [i]I happened to be out for a drive the other day. I believe it was Saturday. Instead of being close to home or the immediate area, I ended up being up in Malibu and bought my Sanyo Portable GPS. It is going to save me money and my eyesight. Why do I say that? It is due to the fact that before I purchased the GPS I used to use a navigator on my cell phone. Verizon Wireless doesn't cut any slack on its users who have the VZ Navigator. It costs $10 a month but it would use my airtime for constant downloading of the current map.This model of Sanyo's GPS navigation unit does multiple things including capabilities of hands-free bluetooth with speaker and microphone, music player, photo viewer, and video viewer. I probably will use it mostly for the navigation, hands-free and the music.[/i][b][i]Do you have a GPS unit? What do you like about yours?[/i][/b] | |
